Submitted by Grover Brown, 1286th AACS Comm Sq and 2168th AFCS Comm Sq. "Don Cain and myself in the Airmen's Club--coat and tie required; helped stop a lot of fights!!! He was a long range RADAR maintenance tech. Transferred to Anglia RATCC when we closed Midlands RATCC down on 1 Jan 1964. A little history: The Midlands RATCC worked RADAR and conventional Center an Approach Control for all the UK SAC bases. We closed Bruntingthrope and Greenham Common in late 1963 and closed Midlands. At that time we moved to the control tower and continued to work conventional (no RADAR) center and approach control for RAF Brize, Fairford and Upper Heyford--as well as VFR tower for Heyford."
